I painted this faerie originally without a background in Painter and I decided that she needed to be in an environment. My background painting has always been weak, so after reading an Imagine FX article on custom brushes in Photoshop, I tried to tackle this problem. I've always been confused about defining brushes, so I experimented with this technique. The result is something that looks a little more impressionistic than actual matte painting like. I would appreciated any suggestions on how to improve my background depiction. Thanks!
